At The Inclusive Kitchen, we believe that food is more than just nourishment—it’s independence, confidence, and creativity. Founded by Julieanne Cresswell, an experienced educator and passionate cook, our mission is to create a welcoming, accessible space where children and young people, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs), can explore, learn, and thrive through cookery.
Julieanne’s culinary journey began at just four years old, when her mother introduced her to cooking through Floury Fingers by Cecilia H. Hinde. By eleven, she reached the regional finals of Junior Cook of the Year, sparking a lifelong passion for food and education.
Her career blends hands-on industry experience with 18 years of food technology teaching, ensuring that every lesson at The Inclusive Kitchen is practical, engaging, and tailored to the needs of diverse learners. After training as a confectioner and baker, Julieanne worked in a leading high street supermarket, then later took charge of a staff restaurant, crafting nutritious meals for busy professionals.
Julieanne earned her Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with a specialism in Design and Technology, and quickly rose to Head of Food Technology at an all-girls school. She dedicated herself to developing pupils’ skills and fostering a lifelong love for food, before transitioning into SEND education, where she now teaches food technology to primary and secondary pupils with moderate learning difficulties.
Turning passion into purpose; the story of the inclusive kitchen.
